Utv Customization
Utv Customization
We recently had the opportunity to customize two Polaris side-by-sides in our shop. The two vehicles are used for very different purposes, but we were able to modify them both to be exactly what their owners needed. We customized one UTV for heavy-duty use by BLM wild-land firefighters. The other side-by-side was modified for winter use as a local ranch vehicle. Both are now perfectly suited for their owner’s needs. We are exited to share the before and after photos, so check them out below.
Custom Shocks for a Firefighting Utv
In this firefighting UTV customization, upgrading the suspension system on this Polaris Ranger was key. The BLM firefighters frequently take this vehicle on rough terrain and off trail to help put out fires. It hauls heavy loads of firefighting gear and multiple people, so the stock suspension just wasn’t cutting it. When the rear shock was completely destroyed on a mission, the owners brought it to us. We decided that new, custom, heavy-duty shocks were key to keeping this Ranger on the trail. We chose high-performance Walker Evans heavy-duty trail shock absorbers.
Since it was the peak of wild-land fire season, we had to get the vehicle in good repair as fast as possible. The Walker Evans company sent the parts with rush overnight delivery and made sure we had them right away. We installed the new shocks at our repair shop in Dolores, Colorado. Not only did the new shocks make the vehicle tougher, they also looked great!
Shocks & Plow for a Ranch Utv
To be more useful around the ranch, this side-by-side needed some special add-ons. For safety, we added Tusk doors. The owner often drives this side-by-side over uneven ground around the ranch and it was constantly dragging the undercarriage. To fix this, we installed a lift-kit, upgraded Bandit shocks, and new suspension system to raise the UTV and give it more clearance. It also got new suspension bushings to improve the ride quality. Finally, with winter approaching, we added a custom snowplow mount to ensure the blade had good ground clearance, as well. Now this vehicle is ready to take on winter on the ranch.
